A gas safety check involves a Gas Safe registered engineer inspecting your gas appliance.

They will check that the appliance is working correctly and will inspect the following four main areas:

  • Gas appliances are on the right setting and burning correctly with the correct operating pressure
  • Harmful gases are being removed from the appliance safely to the air outside
  • That any ventilation routes are clear and working properly
  • All the safety devices are working

If you do not use your gas supply we still need access to test the gas installation and smoke alarms in your home. For more information, contact Sure Group on: 0800 840 8021 or 01509 634 622.

What is a service?

A service is a full check of a gas appliance, during which the engineer may take the appliance apart to inspect it, carry out performance tests and take any necessary remedial action.

The engineer will assess the physical condition of the appliance, installation pipework, air vents and any flues for deterioration. Appliances must be serviced regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Allowing us annual access to your gas appliances will ensure they are safe to use, well maintained, efficient and pass performance testing. A well maintained appliance may also help to reduce your fuel bills.

Please remember to always check the engineer’s gas safe card which carries their name and their picture. If in doubt, do not let them in and contact us.
