The Charnwood Regeneration Strategy, approved by Cabinet in August 2012, identified Shepshed Town Centre as one of seven priority areas for regeneration across the borough:

Additionally, in September 2012, Cabinet identified its preferred development strategy for the distribution of strategic housing needs including selection of Shepshed as a Direction of Growth for some 500 new homes.

Those commitments raised the need for a policy set within the emerging Core Strategy supported by an appropriate evidence base, to secure the regeneration of Shepshed’s Town Centre.

Shepshed Masterplan

BBP Regeneration, in partnership with Wei Yang and Partners and Shared Intelligence were commissioned in January, 2013 to prepare a Master Plan and Delivery Framework.

Their final report was submitted on May 8, 2013 and it is available to download below:
