The Council’s waste partner Serco will be carrying out another free bulky waste collection from residential properties most impacted by flooding caused by Storm Henk.

Collections will take place from properties which experienced internal flooding.

Collections will be free of charge and will start from Saturday February 3 in villages and towns including Barrow, Cossington, Mountsorrel, Newtown Linford, Quorn, Rearsby, Rothley, Sileby, Swithland, Syston, Thurcaston.

Collections in Loughborough will start on Monday February 5.

A list of dates, areas and streets where collections will take place can be found below.

Items must have been damaged in the floods and need to be presented at the boundary of the property by 6am on the morning of collection. Serco will not enter properties or gardens to collect items.

Please take photos of damaged items before putting them out for collection in case you need evidence for insurance claims. No responsibility will be taken if items are taken before photos are captured.

Only household waste including furniture, carpets and domestic electric appliances will be collected.

There will be several vehicles out and about carrying out collections.

Depending on the types of items presented, different items may be collected on different days and multiple collections may be necessary. This is due to how we must legally dispose of some bulky waste, such as sofas and chairs, separately to other bulky waste, such as wardrobes and electrical items.

Please leave your items out and crews will return as soon as they can.

Construction waste such as plaster, bricks, internal doors and skirting boards will not be collected. Residents with this type of waste are advised to visit their local tip or to arrange collection of the waste by an authorised waste carrier.
