On February 21 2022, Charnwood Borough Council approved a recommendation to amend rents and charges for Council properties with effect from April 4, 2022.
The proposed changes are in line with government guidelines which, for this coming year, means that the rent will be increased by 4.1%. Service charges, where applicable, may increase.
Currently, the Council’s rent levels are significantly lower at £74.73 per week (52 week rent year) than other local authorities where the average rent is £83.14.
These are identified separately on your letter and cover the cost of any service you receive. These charges may include heating and a charge for communal facilities. If you would like a breakdown of these charges, please contact us 01509 634666.
Depending on your circumstances you may be able to apply for Housing Benefit to help pay your rent. To claim you should contact the Housing Benefit team on 0345 6091258 or you can apply online.
