Viability and market testing of housing options

We have undertaken a number of studies to test the viability and deliverability of the policies in the Draft Local Plan Core Strategy. These studies are summarised below.

Charnwood Local Plan viability study, 2014

We commissioned consultants DTZ to carry out a ‘whole plan’ viability study of the Draft Local Plan Core Strategy. This was so that we could decide whether the proposed policies are deliverable.

The study found that the Core Strategy contains a viable set of development proposals.

Viability and deliverability of alternative development scenarios for a sustainable urban extension North East of Leicester, 2013

This study was prepared in response to a concern raised through consultation on the Core Strategy. It tested the viability of delivering alternative proposals for a Local Centre within an urban extension.

The report also provided a viability assessment of the Sustainable Urban Extension North East of Leicester as set out in the Draft Core Strategy.

Sustainable urban extension and directions for growth delivery evidence, 2012

This report assessed the viability and deliverability of the two proposed Sustainable Urban Extensions, and two Directions of Growth proposed in the Draft Local Plan Core Strategy.

The main findings were that both SUE sites present viable and sound propositions for including in the Core Strategy, capable of delivering substantial Section 106 packages.
