Charnwood Borough Council’s waste partner Serco will be undertaking a clean-up in March and April which will see litter and debris cleared from central reservations, slip roads and laybys of the A6 and A46 in the borough.
The clean-up is completed twice a year and usually takes place around the same time as the clocks change in March/April and October. This is because litter becomes more visible during this time before the clean-ups are carried out due to grass verges being cut back and the increased daylight.
The clean-up is due to start on Saturday March 25, 2023 and will be ongoing until Friday April 21, 2023.
A rolling lane closure will be in place while cleaning is being carried out and may cause delays.
The full schedule of the clean-up for March/April can be found below:
- Saturday March 25 and Sunday March 26
- Monday March 27 until Sunday April 2
- Monday April 3 until Thursday April 6 (Break for Easter weekend - Good Friday until Easter Monday)
- Tuesday April 11 until Sunday April 16
- Monday April 17 until Friday April 21.
This work will cover the main carriageway and the verges where accessible. Our waste partners Serco will clear the central reservation first until we have completed both sides of the carriageway. They will then clear the outside verges both sides.
Slip road and laybys will be completed at an alternative time.
